Urban Tilth’s Basins of Relations program in Richmond, California (USA) focuses on both restoring biodiverse habitats in neglected natural spaces in cities and restoring connections between local residents and these spaces.

Through innovative stewardship events, educational training programs and career development opportunities it seeks to expand the benefits that urban greenspaces provide to those that historically have been excluded from these opportunities and positively impact the health and well-being of communities and the urban ecosystems in which they are embedded. This talk will describe the foundational underpinnings of this work and showcase concrete projects that Urban Tilth is involved in as windows into the world of urban habitat restoration centered on environmental equity.
