The aim of a nutrient community is to return nutrients from kitchen waste and digested food to the production of food via new recycling routes and as part of a cycle. The main aim is to help establish sustainable agricultural systems, protect the environment and conserve critical raw materials.
The “Model Sectoral Plan for Municipal Nutrient Communities” is an initial prototype of what a suitable planning instrument that supports municipalities and cities in establishing nutrient communities could look like. The first step is to develop a practicable and formalizable approach from this initial proposal. This can only be achieved together with potentially involved stakeholder groups.
