Jonas Pipat-Tang Czikl studied architecture and urban planning in the Bachelor's program (2019) and the Master's program (2023) at the University of Stuttgart. His areas of focus during his studies included urban ecology and housing sociology, with a particular emphasis on the challenges of resource consumption in the built environment and the potential for closing the water and nutrient cycles. His Master's thesis dealt with the attitudes of urban gardeners towards innovative sanitation systems and the utilization of human urine and feces as fertilizers.
Since April 2021, he has been working as a research assistant in the interdisciplinary research project RUN, which examines the planning conditions for nutrient communities between urban and rural areas. For his continued work on this project, he has been employed as a research associate at ILPÖ since October 2023.
