Kristen Jakstis ist in den USA geboren und aufgewachsen und studierte Umweltwissenschaften (BSc) an der University of Portland in Portland, Oregon (2016). Nach einem Jahr als „Fulbright Scholar“ in Deutschland hat sie ihre Ausbildung mit dem Masterstudium in Forstwissenschaften an der Universität Freiburg fortgesetzt (2020). Während ihres Masterstudiums und ihres Praktikums beim United States Forest Service Research Laboratory enwickelte sie ein Interesse für Stadtbegrünung und Biodiversität sowie deren Zusammenhängen mit der menschlichen Gesundheit. Kristen fokussiert sich weiterin auf dieses Forschungsfeld und seit Juni 2020 ist sie als Doktorandin und Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am ILPÖ angestellt.
