Rossana Poblet studied Architecture and Urbanism in Ricardo Palma University in Lima, Peru (1991-1997). After her studies she did work as World Bank Junior Consultant in COFOPRI, as part of the adjudication management office in charge of the regularisation of all non-residential areas in informal settlements in Peru. While working also studied in the Urban Renewal Master Program at the Engineering National University - Architecture, Urbanism and Arts Postgrade School (FAUA-UNI) in Lima (1999-2001). With her master colleagues Silvia de los Rios, Freddy Valdivia and Maritza Robinson founded Polis Group, as a research platform for designing and executing urban renewal proposals in participative way in neglected areas of the city. In 2002 joined Development Action Group in Cape Town, South Africa, supporting participative design of low income housing supported with the housing subsidy scheme and also developed projects related to ecological sanitation systems and construction technics in informal settlements in the Western Cape (Khayelitsha, Hout Bay, Wallacedence, etc). In 2003 joined the Metropolitan Planning Institute of Lima (IMP) as part of a multidisciplinary team developing Integral Development Plans for local governments with community participation. From 2004 till 2008 she did work with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo as UNMIK Adviser in the Kosovo Cadastral Agency, supporting the cadastral reconstruction and property rights of minority communities. Back in Peru in 2009, she did work as adviser to improve the Techo Propio Program (own roof) under the national housing subsidy scheme developed by the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation. Later was awarded with an Erasmus Mundus scholarship supported by the European Commission-EACEA for a double master degree focusing on International Cooperation and Urban Development -led by Technische Universität Darmstadt in Germany- and Sustainable Emergency Architecture -led by Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Spain- . Currently she works in ILPOE as research assistance in the LiWa (Lima Water) Project “ Sustainable Water and Wastewater Management in urban growth centres coping with Climate Change - Concepts for Metropolitan Lima (Peru)” and as academic staff leading the Lima Studio “Lima: Beyond the Park” and the Seminar “Lima Arid Urbanism” and organising a joint summer school in Lima with Peruvian and German students. As researcher she is working on integrating urban planning and water management for future cities development and in developing principles for cities in arid climatic conditions.

Forschungsprojekte

Integrated urban planning strategies and planning tools – Sub-project “Liwa”
The goal of this project is the development of multifunctional, water catchment related strategies of spatial planning and urban planning tools in Lima, Peru. Based on a GIS simulation and design tool, and involving the Liwa strategies for developing scenarios of ecological infrastructure as a foundation, a strategy for sustainable urban development can be addressed.

Kosovo Cadastral Support program II
The goal of the project was to rebuild the cadastral and information system –legal and technical-destroyed during the conflict through the collection of hard and digital existent data and field survey in order to reorganise the cadastral system protecting property rights of all communities living in the area before the conflict, focusing also in internal displaced people and minorities property rights.
